In addition to my own book above, below is a list of recommended books I have personally read and found immensely helpful in my entrepreneurial journey. Some of the books offer specific information on franchising, while others offer more generalized advice in regard to entrepreneurship, starting a business or the more intangible requirements of success.
As you start your journey toward business ownership, consider your educational and inspirational resources carefully. I always prefer to emulate successful people, as they invariably have overcome obstacles (people that aren’t entrepreneurs might call these failures) and I learn a great deal from their experiences. Rich Dad Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not!
This classic book shares the experience of Kiyosaki as a young boy and his learnings from his “two dads”. It paints the stark difference between working for money and having your money work for you, and the impact it can have on your success in career and business.
This book by Seth Godin is a modern business classic. It’s an easy read and clarifies how to stand out in a crowded, noisy marketplace. This book definitely provides some “a ha” moments in thinking about business success.
This book is by my colleague Rick Bisio, and is one of the best books on how to approach becoming a franchisee. It’s a deeper dive into the franchising process and has more history than my book, but is written objectively and is a valuable resource that I share with my candidates.
